Following advice, from the NHS and British Orthodontic Society, Smiles Orthodontic Practice is closed to patients. All appointments for the foreseeable future have been cancelled.
If you have a fixed brace and wear elastics please continue with these. Leave a phone message if you run out so we can send you some more. Removable appliances and retainers should continue to be worn as instructed.
If you have a problem with your orthodontic appliance there is guidance in the Orthodontic Emergencies Protocol on the British Orthodontic Society website.
At this stage please only contact the practice if you have a concern or orthodontic emergency that is causing discomfort. Unfortunately we are unable to replace brackets, repair broken removable appliances or provide replacement retainers.
These are extraordinary times and the safety of our patients, staff and families is paramount.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Smiles as soon as possible.
The Smiles Team
Demand for adult orthodontics has increased dramatically over recent years. So why are more and more adults choosing to invest in braces?
For Liz aged 40, it was a choice she had long considered…
“For the first time in a long time I can smile with confidence, I should have done this years ago! My happy, smiley 40th birthday photos are a credit to the team at Smiles. Thank you.”
Greater confidence – Research shows the more confident you feel, the more successful you are. A great smile improves self confidence and your general sense of well being. Whether you suffer a mild misalignment or severe overcrowding, investing in adult orthodontic treatment can be a life changing experience.
New Products – Innovative and more aesthetically pleasing appliances now make wearing a brace as an adult more socially acceptable and there is a greater emphasis on maintaining good oral health. Correctly aligned teeth contribute to improved dental health.
Braces are not just for children – More adults now realise that aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry doesn’t stop after childhood. As long as your gums and teeth are healthy, there are NO age limits to receiving orthodontic care.
Keep smiling – Even if you have worn braces before as a child, mild irregularities may have developed due to the lack of retainer wear. A short course of treatment can return your teeth to a perfect alignment.
